I am Jenilyn Parkinson, the owner of JP Studio and all of my pottery and sculptures are handmade in Northport, ME. My pottery is purely functional and designed for everyday use. I love the idea that one of my pieces could be someone's favorite coffee mug to use every day! They are microwave & dishwasher safe; oven-proof.
My sculptures are made out of terracotta clay using a pinched-slab technique combined with traditional sculpting for the head, hands, and feet. Sometimes the figures are solitary while other times they are grouped to explore the relationships between the figures and create a story in the viewer's mind.
Richard and Susan Johnson, my parents, are both artists and well known for their business Camden Pottery. Su's paintings occupy the walls of the shop while Richard's sculptures and pottery are also on display.
In addition, Ron Parkinson, my husband, creates engraved rocks hand selected and then engraved with images or messages. These make excellent gifts or can decorate the home, office or garden!
Belfast artist Jay Richards is new to JP Studio for 2022. He uses a chainsaw to create his cedar carvings that are finished with a spar urethane so that they may be placed both indoors and outdoors.
